Captain’s Pizza was started by coworkers Isaac, Dean, and Chris, who dreamed of leaving their desk jobs to try something different. When Isaac began fostering a rescue dog named Captain, their lunch breaks shifted from takeout runs to cooking at Isaac’s apartment and walking Captain. They often made their own pizza using a pizza stone Isaac had been gifted.
Nearly a year later, with Captain still by their side and not yet adopted, the group was inspired to combine their two passions—cooking and rescue dogs—into a business. They invested in a home pizza oven and started making high-temperature Neapolitan-style pizzas, quickly falling in love with the style.
Captain was always a big part of the team and the mission, so naming the business after him was an easy choice. In July of 2024, less than a month after Captain’s Pizza Company opened, Captain was adopted. The team still gets lots of updates and pictures.
Since then, Captain’s Pizza has grown from its first permanent location at The Far Out Lounge & Stage to include a catering unit and an additional location at Drinks Backyard. The company remains committed to supporting rescue dogs through fostering, sharing their stories, and making donations. So far, the Captain’s Pizza team has helped foster and spotlight six dogs who have found their forever homes: Captain, Simba, Boo, Chuck, Barley, and Kimchi.
Our Mission
Our mission is to serve fresh, homemade pizza while also championing the cause of our local rescue dog community. We foster and spotlight different dogs available for adoption, aiming to find them loving homes, as well as contribute through donations. Our journey began from a place of pure love for food and, particularly, pizza. We're committed to combining our passion for food with a deep-seated dedication to the community we serve.
